WEBINARS

The International Forum of Teachers (IFT) is a department within the ICB that consists of teachers and institutions from around the world who have been accepted pursuant to the requirements of the ICB's Statues as members of the IFT. The main objective of the IFT is to form and activate, through global collaboration and dialogue, an organ that will function as a mechanism for the realization of the objectives and activities of the IFT as stated in the ICB Statue.

During the existence of the IFT, various professional trainings were held for its members. As a continuation of these trainings, we saw fit to launch, for all IFT members, a series of five Webinars (each webinar will be held for about an hour and a half) - free of charge, that will deal mainly with the enrichment of "practical tools" in the teaching of bioethics.

The Webinars will deal with modern and practical methods and techniques for teaching bioethics, will focus mainly on the "how", and will give the participants a "toolbox" for immediate applications, thus help to make bioethics an immanent part of the conduct of doctors and health care providers in their daily practice.

The Webinars were built by Prof. Sashka Popova, Prof. Russell D'Souza and Prof. Daniella Keidar and are structured in a friendly way for the participants while providing a practical and enjoyable interactive experience.

The First Webinar

Planned to be held on 01.12.2022 at 13.30 London time. This Webinar will focus on conveying skills and didactic means through which the teaching/learning of bioethics will be meaningful and will be absorbed among learners emotionally, cognitively and behaviourally.

The Second Webinar

"Promoting the Current Programs for Teaching Bioethics and Reorganization of the Way Values are Assimilated".

This Webinar provides factual information of existing programs. An analysis of their structure and contents will present a proposal for detailed curriculum advice on how to integrate ethics, history, philosophy, and the cultural impact of science into bioethics education. Resources will be constructed to assist teachers to establish bioethics teaching programs in various cultures and regions directed toward areas of applied ethics. The Webinar will encourage action so that teachers will be able to cope better with ethical issues immerging from the application and development of science and technology through developing internationally agreed normative frameworks.

The 2nd webinar will be held on 27.02.2023 at 1:30 PM London time.

The Third Webinar

"Ethics Guidelines for Decisions on Life-Sustaining Treatment and Care Near the End of Life".

The aim of the Webinar is to contribute to the dissemination of the principles set out in The Universal Declaration on Bioethics and Human Rights and to the further examination of the issues raised by their applications and by the evolution of the technologies at end-of-life care. The Webinar presents widely acknowledged standards of ethically responsible clinical practice on which they are based. They are grounded in the Hastings Center Guidelines for Decisions on Life-Sustaining Treatment and Care Near the End of Life (from 2013) and will reflect broad ethical, religious, and legal traditions of contemporary society as well as decades of research, deliberation, and consensus-building among medical professionals and patients.

The Forth Webinar

"Current Status, Challenges and Partnership between the Medical Professionals and patients as a Priority in Teaching Bioethics".

The Webinar aims to foster dialogue within teachers on the principles The Universal Declaration on Bioethics and Human Rights endorses in the rules that govern respect for human dignity, human rights, and fundamental freedoms. The Webinar will analyze methodological aspects of teaching bioethics in order to assist teachers to deal effectively with ethical issues raised by medicine, life sciences, and associated technologies as applied to human beings, taking into account their social, legal, and environmental dimensions. In order to stimulate a wide brainstorming with the most active members of the IFT, the Webinar will provide the participants with an opportunity to exchange ideas and proposals for the improvement of the effectiveness and the quality of the partnership between medical professionals and patients.

The Fifth Webinar

"Promote Healthy Lifestyle and Responsible Choices Through Effective Education and Public Engagement".

The aim of the Webinar is to contribute to the exchange of ideas and information about the 2030 Agenda of the World Health Organization (WHO) for Sustainable Development and to encourage action to heighten awareness among teachers and students, the general public, and non-governmental organizations concerned by the issues raised in the field of bioethics. An important goal of the Agenda is to raise public responsibility through education and the Governments committed to developing ambitious national responses, by 2030, to reduce by one-third premature mortality from Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) as a major challenge for sustainable development through prevention and treatment.

A notice of the date of the four additional Webinars will appear on the ICB website and a notice will also be sent directly to the IFT members.

You are invited to take part in the webinars and we will be very happy for your participation in them. We are all partners in promoting the values related to bioethics.

Best wishes,

Prof. Daniella Keidar
